The short version
This is a simple portfolio and contact website. It doesn't sell your data, doesn't build advertising profiles, and only collects information when you choose to give it (by contacting me or subscribing) or agree to it (analytics). Analytics run only after you accept the cookie banner.
What is collected, and why
1. When you use the contact form
The name, email address, and message you submit are sent to me so I can reply. The form is handled by Web3Forms, which delivers the submission to me by email. This information is used only to respond to your enquiry.
2. When you subscribe to the newsletter
Your email address is stored with the newsletter provider, Buttondown, and used only to send you the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
3. Analytics (only with your consent)
If you accept the cookie banner, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage — such as which pages are visited, approximate region, device type, and time on page. This helps improve the site. Google Analytics sets cookies. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and this data is not collected. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser.
4. Hosting and security
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare processes basic technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve the site securely and reliably.
Cookies
No cookies are set unless you accept analytics via the banner. If you accept, Google Analytics cookies are used as described above. Declining keeps the site cookie-free.
How your information is shared
Your information is shared only with the service providers named above, strictly to operate the features you use. It is never sold or used for third-party advertising.
Retention
Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics settings.
Your rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information this site holds about you. To make a request, email jainu.a@gmail.com.
Children
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect their information.
